Espeleosocorro Sin Fronteras wins first place at GrimpDay South America

At La Línea Vertical, we are delighted to celebrate the success of Espeleosocorro Sin Fronteras, the team of rescue specialists we proudly sponsor, after they took first place at GrimpDay South America.

After finishing runners-up at both last year’s GrimpDay in Brazil and this year’s Rope’n Rescue 2025 in Belgium, the team was highly motivated to take first place. After three intense days of testing and an admirable effort, they succeeded.

Pepe Merino, Emilio Rodríguez, Conchi Caro, Francisco Mariscal, Alonso Codes, José Luis Rubio and Berni Orihuela are the members of the team that has won what is considered the most important rescue championship on the continent. The event, held this year in Valparaíso (Chile), brought together 20 international teams ready to test their endurance, tenacity and ability to cooperate.

Between heights, zip lines and precision manoeuvres

Over three intense days, the competition tested the teams’ technique, coordination and strength through a series of rescue simulations in real-life scenarios, ranging from rugged natural environments to large urban structures.

The first day included four very different tests: a rescue on a cliff in strong winds, another on a port crane, a third on a motorway bridge 40 metres above the ground, and a final exercise in a gym full of pendulums. In all the tests, the team demonstrated speed, coordination and a very high technical level.

The second day‘s tests took place in an auditorium and on a merchant ship. In the former, the team performed complex manoeuvres involving stretcher transport and victim transport using zip lines. In the latter, they carried out a rescue on board a ship, combining precision and efficiency in a demanding environment.

The final day focused on the most technical challenges: a pendulum manoeuvre inside the auditorium, a rescue in mountainous terrain and another outside the building at a height of 40 metres, including medical intervention and abseiling. The team overcame these three challenges with ease, ending the competition with energy and determination. It was the perfect ending to three days full of effort, technique and passion for rescue.

At the end of the day, and waiting for the awards ceremony that same night, the team was exhausted but elated. With the marks from their harnesses still visible and their hands sore, they could only smile at a job well done: a testament to their effort, commitment and dedication to saving lives.

Pre-competition training with G8 Vertical in Chile

Before participating in the championship, the Espeleosocorro Sin Fronteras team had the opportunity to train with technicians from G8 Vertical, the headquarters of La Línea Vertical in Chile. During these sessions, they were able to refine their manoeuvres, rehearse rescue procedures and adapt to local conditions ahead of the competition. This collaboration was key to their preparation and reflects the spirit of international cooperation and support that characterises the La Línea Vertical group, which is committed to continuous training and technical excellence in work at height and professional rescue.

Towards new challenges

With this trophy, Espeleosocorro Sin Fronteras adds another victory to its extensive list of 6 international wins, two runner-up titles and one third place, that establishes them as leaders in technical rescue worldwide. But far from stopping there, the team is already thinking about the next challenges, with the same determination and spirit of excellence that characterises them. At La Línea Vertical, we are proud to have accompanied this extraordinary team on their path to success. Being part of their adventure, sharing their values and contributing to their international growth is an honour that reaffirms our commitment to promoting professional rescue initiatives based on safety, technical excellence and a passion for working at height, which defines us.
