G8 VERTICAL completes major hydroelectric power plant project in northern Chile

After eight months of hard work and constant effort, G8 VERTICAL has completed a challenging project at a major thermoelectric power plant in northern Chile.

The work included the structural cleaning of several boilers, the replacement of more than 2,000 square metres of anti-bird netting and the installation and replacement of more than 120 metres of wire mesh, interventions necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the plant, preventing access to large birds, whose presence inside could compromise the safety of the generating process and also increase the risk of contagion of diseases.

This project has been a real challenge for our team, not only because of the technical aspects, which, although complex, were not the first time we had tackled it, but also because of the deadlines committed to with the client. Our company’s technicians gave their best and did their utmost to fulfil each of the tasks. Their dedication and professionalism were key to overcoming the obstacles and achieving the desired results, something we are very proud of.

The cleaning of the boilers was a painstaking task, requiring careful planning and a meticulous focus on safety, because most of the manoeuvres were carried out by rope access.

Meanwhile, the replacement of more than 2,000 metres of anti-bird netting was a task that involved a great deal of coordination and attention to detail, where our technicians worked diligently to replace the old netting, ensuring that each cloth met the highest quality standards.

Finally, the installation and replacement of more than 120 metres of wire mesh on the upper edges of the buildings required the usual skill for complex positioning and lifting manoeuvres by our technicians on the most exposed parts of the buildings, which was the finishing touch to prevent the same birds from positioning and nesting on the structures.

We are very pleased to have successfully met the challenge of this work in this important thermoelectric power plant, thanks to the excellent qualifications of our entire technical team.
