Interview with Itxaro Higon Arcoiza, Head of Administration and Human Resources at LA LÍNEA VERTICAL in Peru

Itxaro Higon Arcoiza has been with our company since 2019 and currently serves as the head of administration and human resources at LA LÍNEA VERTICAL in Peru. She studied Social Work at the University of Deusto in Bilbao and arrived in Peru 13 years ago to participate in a support program for vulnerable communities in the San Juan de Lurigancho district. There, she was able to develop her social and human resources skills, “which I have since applied in various companies across different sectors, always emphasizing the importance of the human aspect and the work environment within organizations,” says Itxaro.

In Peru, she continued her education by studying Administration at the Lima Chamber of Commerce. In 2019, she joined LA LÍNEA VERTICAL to support Miguel Rodríguez in the company’s early stages in the country. She contributed her industry experience and know-how, helping the company to begin its operations and grow, experiencing all stages and areas of the company. “Almost five years later, seeing where we are now and everything we’ve achieved is incredible,” says Itxaro, who expresses feeling “the satisfaction of having been here from the very beginning and contributing to the stabilization of LA LÍNEA VERTICAL in Peru.”

Her current role in the company involves liaising with clients to facilitate the accreditation of personnel to projects: “I am responsible for updating client portals, issuing invoices at the end of each project, tracking payments, and making payments to both suppliers and employees,” she explains, adding that she is “the person in direct contact with the accounting department to ensure everything is up-to-date and that accounting and finances are in order, which is essential for a company to function well.”

“I am passionate about connecting with people and making them feel comfortable in the workplace.”

Another crucial aspect of her job, to which she places great importance, is maintaining contact from the outset with new employees joining LA LÍNEA VERTICAL in Peru. “I conduct the interviews, show interest in their aspirations both within and outside the company, and I am the person they can talk to when they need anything. I am passionate about connecting with people and making them feel comfortable in the workplace; we at LA LÍNEA VERTICAL strongly advocate for a positive work environment,” she explains.

She mentions that she enjoys “being a facilitator, ensuring that all areas of the company function well, and that everyone feels they can come to me if they need something. I believe the emotional and personal side is just as important as the professional side for everything to operate optimally.”

Although Itxaro does not participate in any height-related sports, she follows LA LÍNEA VERTICAL’s philosophy of promoting physical exercise by setting an example through other activities. For the past two years, she has been dancing six days a week and complements this activity with strength training at the gym. “I believe physical activity is crucial for keeping anxiety and stress, which are characteristic of our society today, at bay. We have always been sold on exercise as a physical matter, but the reality is that, in addition to helping us physically, it also helps significantly with releasing endorphins (happiness hormones), which contribute greatly to our mental health,” she concludes.
