La Línea Vertical is a benchmark in safety, becoming the leading company with the most experience in industrial rescue in our country. Likewise, since 2005, it has provided a pioneering industrial rescue service through the Parade Support Group (GAP).
With the aim of establishing clear and uniform guidelines to guide the interventions of this Parade Support Group, La Línea Vertical has drawn up an internal manual on procedures and actions of the GAP, which includes aspects such as the personal and collective material to be carried, the responsibilities of the team leader, work techniques and action in the event of an incident or accident, as well as a code of conduct, among other matters.
The manual has been prepared by our company’s management and training teams. It consists of more than 80 pages, which graphically and attractively summarise the essential knowledge that GAP members must know and put into practice. The manual, which has been edited and legally protected to prevent fraudulent copies, is delivered to each member in physical format.
The GAP is made up of a multidisciplinary team of technicians, with diverse training and skills, who assist workers on large construction sites or industrial stoppages, providing solutions to complicated work and rescue situations on steep slopes, confined spaces or other locations of special risk. It works in large industries in the petrochemical sector and large energy industries.
Generally, in each intervention, the GAP is made up of three technicians, one of them being the head of the unit, and its main mission is to provide safety and confidence, avoiding unnecessary risks and minimising the consequences of a possible accident or incident; in some smaller projects, the GAP may be limited to two technicians (typically projects of long duration and no more than 200 people working simultaneously, such as the decommissioning of thermal power plants).
The workers who form part of the GAP take annual courses to keep their knowledge up to date and improve their technical skills, so that they are always prepared for any situation. The latest LLV course took place at the end of August 2024 at our training center in La Línea de la Concepción, consisting of specific training to refresh their knowledge of rope rescue at height and in confined spaces, and first aid.
In addition to ongoing technical training, the demanding work carried out by the GAP requires its members to be very clear about how they should act in each situation, and to do so in a coordinated and similar way regardless of which members make up each GAP and even in which industrial facility the service is being carried out; hence the importance of the internal manual on procedures and actions that the company has just drawn up, which places us at the forefront of these services at national level.
