LLV from Inside: Óscar Jiménez Tenorio/Coordinator of business activities in Huelva

Óscar Jiménez is the visible head of LA LÍNEA VERTICAL in Huelva. He coordinates the work and manages all the company’s logistics in the area. He is also a senior technician in occupational risk prevention, so he is also responsible for this area in the capital of Huelva.

He started working for the company in September 2014 as an ultrasound inspector and in January 2015, he became the coordinator of the Huelva office.

Óscar Jiménez is one of those people who has reinvented himself in the workplace. He has a degree in Marine Sciences and worked for many years in the world of aquariums, becoming director of the Almuñécar Aquarium, a position he held for five years. But due to the crisis, the company he worked for closed down and at that moment, he decided to take a professional turn. Encouraged by his brother-in-law, who works for LA LÍNEA VERTICAL, he became interested in rope access work and qualified as an IRATA Rope Access Technician, which qualifies him to carry out this work. Later, he trained as an ultrasonic inspector.

He started working for LA LÍNEA VERTICAL as an ultrasound inspector in Algeciras nine years ago. At that time, the company needed a coordinator in the Huelva office who had a master’s degree in occupational risk prevention and experience in personnel management, requirements that Óscar met, which is why he was offered the position. Thus, a month after joining the company, he moved to Huelva to train for his new position, which he started in January 2015.

According to Óscar himself, his main task is “to ensure that the work is carried out on time and in the right way, and that the workers have the best possible working conditions, because many of them are displaced from their homes”. He points out that he always tries “to ensure that they have everything they need for their work, good conditions before and after each job and that all safety regulations are complied with”.

He considers that the most complicated part of his job is personnel management, because he often has to act as a mediator between the workers and the company, something that “is not easy”.

He says that he feels very comfortable at LA LÍNEA VERTICAL and is very proud of the work he does, as it facilitates job security and improvements. He also says that, as far as he is able, he always tries to make the workers feel comfortable.

He recognises that LA LÍNEA VERTICAL carries out very exposed and dangerous jobs, but “it is gratifying that we have never had any accidents, that the workers have good working conditions, within the world of industry, and to know that the clients are always satisfied”. He emphasises that this is due to the great professionalism of the workers. “Everyone’s efforts have been rewarded by the fact that we have become one of the most recognised companies in the sector on a national level”, he concludes.
