At La Línea Vertical we have a commitment to excellence that leads us to be constantly updating and renewing our work materials. In this respect, the company’s latest acquisition has been a new piece of equipment focused on improving inspections. The OmniScan® SX flaw detector, an instrument based on phased array technology, uses ultrasound to determine the quality of components and detect flaws such as imperfections or cracks. It can also be used effectively for wall thickness measurement and corrosion testing.
The OmniScan SX is a single-group (channel) instrument without modules, easy to operate and cost-effective for less demanding applications. A key feature of this state-of-the-art, user-friendly tool is the incorporation of a new, simplified software interface, visible through a convenient 8.4’ (21.3 cm) touch screen.
The OmniScan SX touchscreen offers a full-screen mode option that maximises visibility, essentially turning many menu functions into simple touchscreen operations. The intuitive interface provides fluid menu selection, zooming, door adjustments, cursor movements, and text and value entry.
These features, along with other premium features such as easy-to-understand setup and calibration wizards, a fast update rate for S-scans and A-scans, and a fast pulse repetition frequency (PRF), make the OmniScan SX a highly efficient inspection tool.
It should be noted that the new OmniScan software offers optimisations for increased functionality in the industrial areas of weld and corrosion inspection.
With the incorporation of phased array technology, La Línea Vertical differentiates itself from other companies that do not yet offer this service, which is increasingly in demand, due to its greater accuracy in detecting faults than conventional methods, according to Manuel Ortega Almeida, non-destructive testing inspector and coordinator of our company at the BP Gelsenkirchen site in Germany.
Another advantage that Manuel Ortega highlights about this tool is the capacity it gives us to carry out recordable inspections, as it saves the inspection data, so that it can later be corroborated by different inspectors and by the client himself.
All these features reduce inspection time.
In short, the Omniscan SX is a new, versatile tool that simplifies workflow and improves overall productivity. With it, La Línea Vertical takes a new leap in quality and places itself at the forefront of inspection work in the industrial sector.
