At G8 Vertical we work every day with a clear objective: to protect the lives of those who work at heights. We know that in this type of work there is no margin for error, and that is why we want to reinforce the importance of having adequate and certified safety systems. One of the most fundamental: lifelines.

What is a lifeline?
A lifeline is a fall arrest system that allows a worker to connect his safety harness and move with continuous protection in fall risk areas. It is designed to arrest a free fall or, ideally, prevent it from occurring, while allowing the mobility necessary to perform operational tasks.
There are two main types:
- Horizontal lifeline: installed on surfaces such as roofs, walkways, metal structures or decks, allowing safe lateral movement.
Vertical lifeline: attached to vertical structures such as ladders, towers or poles, facilitating controlled ascents and descents.

Why are these systems vital?
Falling from height continues to be one of the main causes of serious or fatal workplace accidents in Chile and the world. That’s why having a lifeline installed by certified professionals not only protects your team, but also demonstrates responsible preventive management. These systems:
- Save lives: avoid tragic consequences in the event of a slip, trip or loss of balance.
- Comply with regulations: both local and international (such as EN 795, ANSI and Chilean regulations required by health authorities and mutual insurance companies).
- Reduce legal and economic risks: significantly reduce costs associated with accidents and penalties.
Strengthen operational confidence: workers feel safer and more motivated knowing that they have real protection measures in place.
Who should install a lifeline?
A lifeline is not a standard accessory that can be installed without prior analysis. Requires a technical design that considers multiple factors:
- Type of structure and work to be carried out
- Number of simultaneous users
- Free fall distance
- Energy absorption
- Applicable regulations
- Possible rescue points in case of emergency
All this must be assessed and implemented by certified professionals with experience and technical knowledge of working at heights.
At G8 Vertical we have:
- Certified staff in design, installation and inspection of lifelines, we also offer recertification of your existing lines.
- Experience in critical sectors such as mining, construction, telecommunications and industry.
- High quality equipment and internationally recognised suppliers.
- User training to guarantee the correct use of the system.

Does your company have its lifelines in optimal condition?
If you are unsure of the current state of your lifelines or if they have not been inspected within the last year, we invite you to schedule a technical inspection with our team.
